Adi Da calls devotees to the Mission to convert people in the face of evil, dark forces in dark times

This is a communication to the community that was given by a senior devotee in late 2001, after the attacks of 9/11.

Devotee:  A few years ago, when told that the number of His formal devotees was around 1700, Beloved Adi Da said that even this small number of individuals was sufficient to make His Work happen if everyone was cooperatively dedicated to that Puja. Beloved's Urgency at this time to create a real Mission is a tremendous empowerment of the gathering to use this most vulnerable moment in the world to bring people to His Feet.

On October 6, Beloved gave the most serious Communications about the state of the world, and the necessity for His devotees to go out and "speak the Truth", to move and convert people with His uniquely Liberating Message and the direct experience of His Divine Spiritual Transmission.

AVATAR ADI DA SAMRAJ: I've been eating the world and suffering it in My own Form for decades, and that is the reality of this Body. It has gone beyond the time when I can sustain this Body in the absence of devotion. Instead of My Presence here, evil is taking over. …

…. Now the horror of this dark time is coming down, and people in the world think they are going to get religious by being involved in ordinary conventional religion. People are going to flock to the salvation they believe they can find in conventional religion, because you have not penetrated the barriers, such that people can be told the Truth and understand the importance of My Coming.

It's time to look at and realize what the real situation is. The world is possessed by evil. It is darkness. It is a force — a terrible, destructive force that I have been dealing with all My Life, and it is overwhelming the mass of mankind and affecting the ignorant and helpless people of this world.

This terrorism is related to the entire global situation. The entire situation of this world is being degraded by disease, climate changes, starvation, droughts, bad intentions, religious fanaticism. There's no sanity in charge. There will be plenty of running to religion, but not to Me. There's no public mission yet. There's nothing occurring with the Source-Texts. [October 6, 2001]

Devotee:  Beloved went on to point out that in "Four Thorns of Heart-Instruction" He invites all human beings to come running to Him,. But He does not see this happening, and He knows that this is because we, His devotees, have not made Him known. The message of the "Four Thorns" (which Beloved Gave in the midst of a time of extraordinary Tapas in Hawaii, in 1997), is that the Spiritual Reality is real, that the devotional relationship with Beloved opens You to the tangible, Love-Blissful Descent of Divine Light that transforms the heart and body-mind. Beloved knows that this Gift of His is beyond anything that the world, or its existing religions, can offer. And it is Excruciating to Him that hardly anyone knows about this possibility!

Hardly anyone knows that the Divine Person is Incarnate here in this darkest of times, offering this profound Spiritual relationship — the means to Shine through any conditions in life or death. Beloved Adi Da Speaks very Passionately, reminding us that the true devotee resorts to the Master and responds to the Master. Our Master, the Ruchira Avatar, Adi Da Samraj, is Requiring us to go beyond our superficiality and really communicate His Gifts.

AVATAR ADI DA SAMRAJ: I've already Given you the "Four Thorns Of Heart-Instruction". Do you see people running to Me? It makes no difference, because you have no mission with My Books. You don't even know what these Books are about. There is no growth and you resent any requirement at all.

Everybody is just off on their independent adventures. They are not producing any results. When are you going to do what you are supposed to do? WHERE IS THE MISSION? You should create this Mission, and cut through all of this, right now. What is the point of My speaking to you if you don't respond? Real devotees resort to their Master because of the nature of life itself. And in the midst of whatever their life is, they intensify their practice. This gathering is all off doing whatever it pleases. What a devotee does is not what this gathering is doing. You are not resorting to the Master. You are occupied with all the trivial bullshit. But the reason why you go to the Master is to go beyond all of that.

You all come and go. You are absent. You complain. You want a talking-school salvation, a myth of deliverance, so that all you have to do is talk about it and push the "faith button" and utopia will fall out of the sky.

You have not resorted to Me. You cannot serve Me unless you recognize Me. Otherwise, you do not understand what service to Me and seeing that I am cared for is about. Then you satisfy yourselves with the phony good life and the conventions of superficial social existence. [October 6, 2001]

Adi Da discusses the failed attempts of the last 30 years to build the following he had hoped for

AVATAR ADI DA SAMRAJ: Having a message is not enough. You do not merely have a message. Your business is to have people actively respond and partcipate. For 30 years, you have completely failed to do this, because you do not practice and you are unwilling to organize yourselves and put energy into what you are doing. You are embarrassed to make use of your opportunities, and it is your obligation to have your activities create concrete relationship.

No matter what I say, in terms of the workings of what people are doing with My Literature, with education, with the website, with the mission, with whatever it is, even though it is in some sense being resurrected -- I use that word culturally in terms of a process -- there are still no concrete results yet. There is zero growth. Because you don't create a concrete way for people to participate, there is nothing for them to enter into, no means for them to enter into this Way.

You have to make it concrete every step of the way. Religion is a competitive business, and you can't sit back and be embarrassed by what we have and not demand appropriate response altogether. It is the weak-mindedness of the gathering that has created this.

QUANDRA SUKHAPUR: So we should have an entire plan for people to be involved in that invites them into something.

AVATAR ADI DA SAMRAJ: You only have results if people are participating for real. Everything else is just talk. You can't be weak-minded and succeed at the mission. And you can't expect that people will come to you already open-minded. You can't be silly nice guys, like vegetarians in the sixties with an Alpha attitude. Just passing the message around and inviting guests doesn't connect to anything that has to do with Me. Only response and active participation -- joining, having services, keeping people interested and active, having things for them to do -- that's your business.

So far, the organization has zero signs. Devotees are frightened. You are afraid to stand up for the Truth, so you are giving people no alternative. I'm not here to be a joke. I'm here to actually get people out of their stupidity. I'm here to do My Work now, and you do not have a planned gathering. You are so ambiguous as a gathering and a culture -- it's incomprehensible.

Your mission is not made concrete enough. There isn't anything for people to do. You don't tell them what to do. You could immediately activate this entire process today, but you do not make the directives to do what you have to do. In your weak-minded approach, I end up being ignored. You must have concrete gifts to give Me.

You have not defined what you are offering, so that people will want to join. You have to vigorously counter the growing sentiment against gurus, which is fueled by the anti-cult movement. You are not living religious tolerance. The principle of religious tolerance has to be actively defended and championed -- otherwise, it is in danger of being overridden.

This Way is not about conventional belief systems. My Books tell you where it's really at. So it is obvious that you are not doing anything with My Work yet. It is not just a message. You have to invite people into something they can participate in. The only way to tell whether you are really doing the mission is by whether people are concretely participating. You tell by the fact that people buy the next book, take the next course, sign up for the next activity. That's how you tell.

How can there possible be zero growth, with all the Gifts I have Given? There is no way, with all the Gifts I have Given, that you couldn't succeed, unless you are hiding behind some kind of false belief, some lack of doing.

You have to create modes and places of access. So it must be clearly understood how the devotional and Spiritual relationship to Me is lived. It's about a profound life of practice, and that's what My 23 Books are about -- not cultism. Because you are all so weak-minded, after 30 years of resisting your responsibility, you are satisfied with maintaining a social and phony scene that defeats everything real. Serious practice is not engaged.

Adidam is about a way of life. It's about modes of access. It's about real renunciates. You have to be clear on what a true response is. It has to make a difference for a person to join. A book is not sufficient. What you are inviting people to engage in is a Way of life. That is what you have to create. There are no devotee communities of size. There is no energy or process that people can be occupied with. The publication of the books does not amount to a mission. You have to make a mission with the Way. There is no mission that requires people's participation.

You are weak-minded in your educational courses, occupying people for years on end without actually requiring them to do anything. The fact that there is zero growth means that you aren't offering anything concrete for people to be attracted to. Therefore you are preventing people from those things. You are making it sound like a twinkie little group -- and that's why people don't want to have anything to do with it, and they end up not doing anything.

How could you have zero growth? You are excusing yourselves with this zero growth plan being continued, because you are not getting down to what I am talking about. You have nothing but Means. After 30 years, you should have engaged all kinds of cooperative forms of associations with business and creation of this culture. But you all just wanted your independent lives. So this gathering has gone into self-destruct for 30 years, instead of doing what was required.

If that is the case, then I am no one's Master. That is not Spiritual life. You do not do what you have to do, so the gifts of service accomplished are not there. I am associated with a religion business process that doesn't feel it has any obligations. It makes promises instead of working on it. I just sit here with this little handful. You have to start putting out. You never have anything to tell Me. There is never any significant growth. There is never any change in relationship. There is no change in the cultural process. There is nothing anyone really says to Me. You could tell people what to do tomorrow that could make a difference, but nobody is doing that. No one is just creating it and doing it. And that's the difference between talking in this tedious fashion, involved in endless planning, and actually doing it. How long is all the stuff you are talking about doing to take? What are you doing to do -- wait for the next excuse? There can't be an excuse.

QUANDRA SUKHAPUR: It's true. We have to prove out devotion and our strength and we are going to have to stand up for what we believe. And it's time to do it. Everybody talks about it, but then we never do it. So it's just time.

AVATAR ADI DA SAMRAJ: People should not come unless they bring gifts. There is no basis for My Blessing Work unless there is a response. Where do you think the Blessing comes from? It comes from the response.
